Big Fun for Small Mainers: April Adventures Await

March 27, 2026

Fun for Kids, Midcoast Maine

April in Maine is an exciting time of year. The snow melts away, the trees start to bud, and the sun shines a little longer every day. It should feel like a magical fresh start. But let’s be honest, April is really that wonderfully awkward time in-between Winter and Summer where boots are muddy, jackets pile up at the door, and the kids are so restless, the house feels smaller by the minute.

The great news is that it’s the perfect time to get out and explore. Wildlife is on the move, trails are reopening, and museums and local attractions are buzzing with Spring energy. Whether you’re ready for hands-on learning, small memories worth writing home about, or simply a much-needed change of scenery, there are plenty of ways to turn mud season into memory-making season. Big fun for little Mainers is waiting just outside your door.

As you pick and choose which Spring fun you’re going to partake in, be sure to check out the Midcoast Buy Local Regional Directory. It’s a helpful way to discover locally owned favorites.

  • Dress in layers: April can’t make up its mind. You might experience all four seasons before lunchtime.
  • Pack extra socks: You’ll thank yourself later.
  • Embrace the mess: It’s not dirt, it’s memories.
